About the Conference
The Toronto Shelter Network (TSN) is hosting its annual professional development and networking conference in November 2026. This is a key opportunity for 24-hour emergency homelessness providers (shelter, respite, and drop-in) and their partners to connect, reflect, and grow. Across Toronto’s shelter and homelessness sector, workers, organizations, and communities are navigating growing complexity, rising pressures, and rapidly changing realities. This year, we invite all those involved in or impacted by the sector, including frontline staff, people with lived and living experience, community partners, researchers, advocates, and system leaders, to come together to explore how we move from reactive crisis response toward more sustainable, prevention-focused, coordinated, and accountable systems of care. Together, we will reflect on the realities facing the sector today while creating space for collaboration, innovation, workforce sustainability, and systems change rooted in equity, dignity, and collective responsibility.

From Frontline Realities to Systems Change: Workforce, Prevention, and Accountability in a System Under Pressure
Across Toronto's shelter and homelessness sector, frontline workers, organizations, and communities are navigating increasing complexity and pressure. Rising acuity, workforce burnout, staffing instability, safety concerns, housing affordability challenges, and strained systems are reshaping the realities of shelter work every day.
This year's conference explores how frontline experiences connect to broader systems transformation and examines opportunities for prevention, accountability, workforce sustainability, and long-term solutions that support both individuals and communities.
